Greenlight Networks to sponsor Broome County Softball Park
(DICKINSON, NY) – Broome County’s newly renovated softball facility will now be known as Greenlight Networks Grand Slam Park. The internet service provider was awarded the naming rights following a request for proposal earlier this year. Grand Slam Park represents the four fields at the facility and the excitement it brings to the community.
“We wanted to make sure our brand-new softball park had its own identity; one that represents the fast-paced excitement that players, coaches, and fans will experience there,” Broome County Executive Jason Garnar said. “Greenlight Networks is a perfect fit for our new Grand Slam Park; they’ve been expanding throughout Broome County and will be able to help us reach audiences across the country with their services at the facility. We look forward to partnering with them to showcase the exciting action that will take place at the park.”
“We are honored to be selected by Broome County as the naming rights partners for the softball complex. Greenlight Networks Grand Slam Park will soon play an integral role in bringing new opportunities to area athletes—and we’re thrilled to be involved in a project that will have such a long-lasting impact on the community,” said Mark Murphy, CEO of Greenlight Networks. “Our commitment to this region runs deep. We’re not just bringing the highest-speed fiber Internet to the area, but we’re investing in the people we serve. Greenlight Networks Grand Slam Park has a bright future and we look forward to connecting with the community both online and in the field.”
The agreement between the County and Greenlight Networks is worth more than $50 thousand annually. In addition to a naming rights fee, Greenlight will construct, install, and maintain necessary infrastructure to provide 2Gbps of high-speed internet to Grand Slam Park. Signage will be installed and maintained by Greenlight as well, and will support marketing, branding, and advertising of the facility and events taking place there.
Broome County is completing a $4 million renovation on the four-field park includes new, all-turf fields and brand-new lights, making it the only softball complex of its kind in New York State. The fields are home to the Section IV championships and the County is working to bring the New York State championships here as well. Since its opening in 1980, the softball complex has been the primary softball facility in the region, attracting more than 150 thousand visitors each year. That number is expected to grow significantly since the turf and lights will allow for more games each day and a longer playing season.
