Company Looks to Expand Gigabit Internet Service Across Upstate NY
ROCHESTER, NY – April 1, 2015 – Greenlight Networks, an ultra-high-speed, broadband service start-up, today announced its support of the New NY Broadband Program, which was included in the passage of the 2015-16 New York State Budget.
“Governor Cuomo set an ambitious goal to ensure every New Yorker has access to high-speed broadband service by the end of 2018, and through this program we hope to bring our Gigabit Internet service to the 70% of Upstate New Yorkers who do not have access to broadband of at least 100 Mbps,” said Greenlight’s president, Mark Murphy.
“We look forward to working with the Governor’s administration and municipalities to explore ways to streamline permitting, processes, and make-ready policies that would allow us to deploy our competitive broadband service more quickly across Upstate New York,” added Murphy.
Greenlight’s high-speed Internet service has no data usage caps, making it an ideal solution for individuals and families who either watch their favorite TV shows and movies on Netflix and Hulu; are interested in online gaming like Minecraft; have several “connected devices” like iPads, Xbox, PCs, and smartphones; need to be on the Internet at the same time; or are simply looking for a competitively priced, high-quality alternative to the cable and phone companies. The service is available without cable, phones or contracts. Greenlight currently has Internet plans starting at $50/month.
Greenlight Networks is currently available in select areas of the Greater Rochester area including Brighton, East Rochester, Henrietta, Irondequoit, Pittsford, and Rochester. The company intends to deploy in underserved markets across the Greater Rochester Area, Upstate New York State, and beyond.
“We will continue to expand our fiber network based on customer demand, which we will determine by registrations on our website. We will provide regular updates on our website and on social media to inform interested parties of where their neighborhood stands in our rankings,” added Murphy.
