BUFFALO, NY (JULY 27, 2023) – Greenlight Networks, the leading provider of high-speed fiber Internet services in New York State, is investing $2 million to expand its network into East Buffalo. This is part of a larger $20 million commitment Greenlight is making to the Greater Buffalo area in 2023 to bring fast, affordable Internet to more communities in our region. By prioritizing Buffalo’s East Side, more than 2,000 additional homes will have state-of-the-art connectivity by the end of the year.

Greenlight is grateful to Say Yes Buffalo for hosting its network equipment at its home base on Jefferson Avenue in exchange for complimentary high-speed Internet. Greenlight has established similar partnerships with 716 Ministries and Village Church on Buffalo’s West Side. Additionally, the company works with Mission Ignite to educate residents about the benefits of fiber Internet and available federal government programs like the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). Other valued partners include the Buffalo Niagara Partnership and Elmwood Village Association.

Greenlight has established itself as a trusted provider of reliable and affordable high-speed Internet in Western New York, with more than 14,000 homes in the Greater Bufalo area already connected. Right now, in addition to the buildout beginning in East Buffalo, construction is underway on nearly 6,000 additional homes including: North Tonawanda, Buffalo’s West Side, Cheektowaga, and Buffalo’s Elmwood Village.  

To celebrate the network expansion, Greenlight will be hosting a community pop-up event this afternoon, July 27, at Frank E. Merriweather, Jr. Branch Library which is located at 1324 Jefferson Avenue.

A technician will be on hand to talk about the installation process and answer any questions related to Greenlight’s fiber services. No registration is required to attend.

Community members will have a chance to win raffle prizes and sample local treats between the hours of 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. while supplies last. Anyone who places an order for Greenlight service at the event will get a coupon to Golden Cup Coffee, located across the street from the library.

Greenlight also participates in the Affordable Connectivity Program or ACP, a government assistance program that offers eligible households up to $30/month toward Internet bills, free installation and a discount of up to $100 on the purchase a new computer or tablet.

The ACP program recently expanded eligibility to:

• anyone receiving WIC benefits;
• anyone with an income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level;
• and those who have received a Federal Pell Grant during the current award year.
