Local Contractors aid with Infrastructure, Webster Town Recreation Center to Host Equipment
WEBSTER, N.Y. (March 14, 2023) – Greenlight Networks (“Greenlight”), the leading fiber-to-the-home provider in New York State, announced today that the company is further expanding its sought-after fiber network into the Town of Webster, New York. Greenlight Networks CEO Mark Murphy confirmed that the company has plans to bring gigabit Internet services to more than 12,000 homes in Webster by year-end 2023.
Greenlight’s network is currently available to more than 7,000 households in the town of Webster and the company will invest more than $4 million in continued infrastructure development to expand access to local residents. Greenlight is partnering with the Webster Town Recreation Center to host its network equipment in exchange for complimentary high-speed fiber broadband service at the Webster Town Hall.
“I’m proud to say that Greenlight is ambitiously working toward our goal of increasing fiber Internet connectivity here in the Rochester market and we are making significant strides in the Town of Webster. This community has been so vocal about their needs for more affordable, reliable and high-speed Internet services and we’re ready to make that happen,” said Mark Murphy, President and CEO of Greenlight. “Tom Flaherty, the Town Supervisor, and the entire team here at Town of Webster have been great advocates for our infrastructure expansion. We’re grateful that they recognize how important it is to have greater access to services and appreciate their continued partnership.”
Construction is well under way and is set to enable access to more than 2,300 households. By year-end 2023, Greenlight will have provided gigabit fiber Internet service to another 1,700 households throughout the town. The company has enlisted the help of local contractors to aid with the build out the network. Residents in these areas are already able to place pre-orders.
“Speaking on behalf of myself and my colleagues at the Town of Webster, we are truly estactic that Greenlight has chosen to expand in our area. It’s great news for local residents who have patiently advocated for Greenlight over the years,” said Tom Flaherty, Webster Town Supervisor. “This increased access to Fiber Internet is good thing for the community and the economy. We need more options, we need more reliable services and fiber brings a whole new level of connectivity that will truly benefit residents in the long haul.”
Greenlight has also signed on to sponsor five upcoming Town of Webster community events being held at the Recreation Center including, Family Fun Night, Summer Celebration, Summer Splash, Mud Run, and the Pumpkins on Parade event. Representatives will also participate in the “Talks on Tuesday” education sessions geared toward the 55+ Webster residents.
Residents in the town of Webster will be seeing Greenlight Networks trucks, as well as those of its sub-contractors, as construction activities expand throughout the community. Once construction is completed, customers that pre-ordered services will be notified to schedule in-home installation by a Greenlight Networks’ fiber technician.
Residents that have signed up on the Greenlight Networks website will receive communication by email about construction activity in their neighborhood 30 days prior to starting. Additional messaging, such as yard signs and door tags, will also be provided to notify residents of when construction is beginning in their neighborhood.
