Celebrate Earth Day with Greenlight’s Router Recycle Program

Greenlight has partnered with Sunnking Sustainable Solutions to help customers better manage e-waste and upgrade their Wi-Fi experience with ease

We’re excited to continue our Router Recycle Program for our Rochester-area customers! Launched 1 year ago today, this program aims to help customers dispose of their outdated tech equipment responsibly. By partnering with Sunnking, our Rochester office serves as a collection site for unwanted, obsolete Wi-Fi routers.

As part of the program, Greenlight takes care of recycling of your old, outdated router and, in return, customers are upgraded to Total Managed Wi-Fi, which includes a brand-new Wi-Fi router. By participating, customers get rewarded with either a $50 Amazon Gift Card, a Free Month of Greenlight service, or $50 in Streaming TV credits (provided via MyBundle).

“Every year millions of electronic devices are discarded as products become obsolete, which is bad for the environment and human health. Greenlight Networks is doing our part to ensure old routers are disposed of properly, and to make it as easy as possible to switch to Greenlight’s Total Managed Wi-Fi,” says Michele Sadwick, Chief Revenue Officer of Greenlight Networks. “Customers can schedule a time that’s convenient for them to drop old routers off to our office and pick up their new router pre-configured to maximize the Wi-Fi speeds available on Greenlight’s fast fiber internet.”

How It Works

Current Greenlight customers can turn in (or “swap”) their old router devices to Greenlight for safe recycling. Participants then will be upgraded to our Total Managed Wi-Fi option and receive a brand-new router from Greenlight. The cost of Total Managed Wi-Fi is $10/month or less – pricing varies based on your Greenlight internet tier.

According to the World Health Organization, electronic waste, or e-waste, is one of the fastest-growing solid waste streams in the world. E-waste is rising five times faster than documented e-waste recycling. Also, one-third of global electronic waste comes from “small equipment” (incl. Internet of Things devices), but only 12% is recycled, according to the United Nations’ 2024 Global E-Waste Monitor.

Eligible Greenlight customers can participate in the Router Recycle Program by visiting: greenlightnetworks.com/router-recycle-program and clicking “Get Started”.

Why Upgrade via Router Recycle Program?

For no more than $10 per month, Total Managed Wi-Fi includes 24/7 dedicated support from Greenlight Networks. You’ll also be covered for any device repairs or replacements in the future. Our goal is to provide the best, most reliable internet connection in every room of your home.

“We encourage people to use Earth Day as an opportunity to responsibly recycle their unused devices and we are thrilled to partner with Greenlight Networks to make sure people can learn about all the options available to them,” said Robert Burns, Director of Communications, Sunnking Sustainable Solutions.
